Drought Restrictions

Don't be confused! There is lots of VOLUNTARY drought advice and tips, and you should seriously consider those, below are MANDATORY actions you must take. These have been tailored to your local community needs.

As of May 12, 2026, Tabernash Meadows Water & Sanitation District residents and guests are under the following manadatory drought restrictions by Conservation Order of the Board of Directors in response to Grand County's extreme drought conditions.

The Order:

  • Removed both 2nd quarter and 3rd quarter 10,000 gallon irrigation allowances for all residential customers. Overage charges will begin for any water use over 15,000 gallons total per quarter.
  • Irrigation or outdoor water use is permitted by drip system or hand watering for high value landscaping only.  This means trees and perennials.
  • Irrigation agreement allowances with the Vistas and Lakeside HOAs are reduced by 40% of 2025 usage and will incur overage charges for water used past that limit.
  • No new landscaping establishment allowed during conservation order.
  • No bulk water use allowed.
  • No fire hydrant flows by operations staff during hydrant maintenance.
  • Overage fees collected during conservation order will be used for outreach, pond/ditch rehab, and grant writing.
  • This conservation order does not limit indoor use or create an enforcement arm.

  • These restrictions will be revisited each board meeting, acting on updates from the Grand County Drought Preparedness Committee. The restrictions may become more severe based on consumer conservation or eased based on environmental conditions.
